Concerning the RTX 5090D V2, we’ve heard conflicting reports, mainly linked to the fact that the H20 is once again exportable to China. While some indicated that the 5090D would be back, others said that the V2 was still planned. Clearly, the second hypothesis seems to have prevailed, with a supposed launch date of August 12!
RTX 5090D V2: launch on August 12?
Of course, all this is to be taken with a pinch of salt, since it’s all rumor. However, the Chameleon doesn’t seem to have changed its plans for this new card, whose launch is closer than ever.
This isn’t the first time we’ve talked about this card. In fact, its configuration seems to have settled on a GPU with 21760 cuda core, while the memory section has been stripped of part of its bus and capacity. Compared with the original card, the latter loses 25% of its memory capacity, both in terms of bus and VRAM capacity. The number of bits has been reduced from 512 to 384, while the amount of memory has been reduced from 32 GB to 24 GB.
The aim here is to limit performance in the artificial intelligence sector as much as possible, in compliance with US sanctions. Incidentally, the resumption of sales of the H20 does not seem to be enabling NVIDIA to resume exports of the original RTX 5090D. So, just because a license is granted for one product doesn’t mean it’s valid for the brand’s entire catalog.
Finally, all that’s left is the supposed launch date for this new card, which seems to be set for August 12, in about three weeks’ time. We’ll just have to wait and see. In any case, it remains to be seen how this new model will be received by the Chameleon’s partners. We’re curious to see whether Galax will venture to offer an HOF version of this card.
