The thermal interface market is already busy. In Europe, Thermal Grizzly has forged a reputation for excellence in the field, as has Arctic. However, a new player has emerged with great ambition!
Cayom: excellent thermal conductivity and aggressive pricing
The angle of attack is quite simple: quality products at very ambitious prices. The Chinese brand offers an easy-to-understand range of 3 products:
- CA-1 with a thermal conductivity of 6W/m.K
- CA-2 with a thermal conductivity of 7W/m.K
- CA-3 with a thermal conductivity of 8W/m.K
Their densities are similar (between 2.5 and 2.6g/cm3), as are their application ranges (from -40 to +200°C). Application is straightforward. By way of comparison, Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut has a conductivity of 8.6W/m.K and Arctic MX-4 8.5W/m.K. Cayom ‘s CA-3 paste is therefore pretty much on par with the leaders in the field, without competing head-on with them. The difference lies in price. The 3 references are advertised respectively at $1.79, $2.14 and $2.50 excluding tax for a 4g syringe. As a reminder, the MX-4 4g syringe is priced at 7€90 inc. tax.
CA-3 in action
We had the opportunity to apply CA-3 during a live build. Far from the conditions of a rigorous laboratory test, we chose to put it through its paces. The paste was applied to a Ryzen 7700 CPU passively cooled by a Noctua NH-P1 with no airflow, as it was installed on an open chassis. It has to be said that the results are highly satisfactory. In CPU stress tests (OCCT and cinebench R23), the CPU stabilized slightly above 70°C and did not experience any throttling (frequency reduction in the event of overheating). There are many influencing factors, and this test has no comparative value, but it’s clear that the thermal paste fulfilled its role perfectly!
Not just thermal paste!
In addition to the pastes detailed above, Cayom also offers thermal pads (for GPUs, laptops, etc.) and a thermal gel announced as “revolutionary”. We haven’t had our hands on these products yet. In full expansion, the brand can already be contacted by e-mail or via its social networks. Its representatives handle all types of order, from the smallest to the largest volume. For our part, we’re going to continue discovering and using the range with CA-1 and CA-2.
